Within five years the artist has made 400 casts of vulvas that are arranged on ten panels of a total length of 8 metres. The artwork shows the huge variety of shapes and sizes of genitalia of normal women. Also included are transgendered men and women, of women pre and post natal as well as vulvas pre and post labiaplasty. McCartney's intention is not only to create a sensational artwork but also to emphasize how different female genitalia look and how unique is every single vulva. In these times where it is increasingly popular to undergo a labiaplasty, and the woman thus submits herself to a fashion trend, driven partly by pornography, it is really important to show how normal differences are. The artist does not intend to create erotic or stimulating art. It is meant to look spectacular but also to be educational, allowing people to view without shame the different variations of vulvas.[1]
