In this painting Degas depicted the daily routine in a worehouse. He shows prostitutes who are waiting for their clients and reveals the women's intimacy. The ladies appear unprettified and realistic, expose their genitals and their bodies. The woman at the very left frankly shows her vulva indicated by a vertical line. Pubic hair indicates her pubic triangle. In those days the picture was qualified as pornographic, the woman is shown as sexualized object.
