Anatomy and Function
The clitoral prepuce (praeputium clitoridis) is a mucosal fold, which surrounds and protects the external part of the clitoris (clitoral tip (glans clitoridis) and clitoral shaft (corpus clitoridis)). It can be regarded as extension of the inner labia. The size and shape of the clitoral prepuce can vary. It is either hidden by the large labia or stands out between them depending on its normal condition. [1] [2] [3] [4] [CLITORIS]
Diseases
Similar to the penis, smegma can accumulate beneath the prepuce. This can lead to adherences and/or adhesions. In order to prevent this, the clitoral prepuce should be regularly and carefully pushed back so that the external part of the clitoris can be cleaned with water. Soap and the like should be prevented in the genital area in order not to damage a healty flora of vulva and vagina. [5] [6] [7]
