The fact that this female figure is again depicted faceless is indicative of a symbolic character. Contrary to the figurines we have seen so far, in this case the small breasts are noticeable. This is due to the altered living conditions during Neolithic since women stopped breastfeeding their children for three or four years[1]. The figure is seated and her entire body is decorated. Her vulva triangle is accentuated and above the opening in the centre of the triangle a nicely curved line depicts the pubic area of the woman. This stylized representation of vulva triangle and vulva is new. Probably the engravings also had special meanings, which can't be decoded anymore. Vierzig regards them as symbolic figures, however their exact function is still unclear: „The question remains which function the statuettes had. In arguing whether their ritual – religious nature or their profane use in everyday life was predominant, the position in favour of the ritual nature is more common"[2]. What can be ruled out is that they are depictions of goddesses since the belief in certain deities was not formulated then.[3] (Translation: C. Wilhelm)
