Definition
A fake orgasm is the result of a person who pretends to have an orgasm without actually experiencing one.
Statistics
In 1986, a survey showed that up to 58% of all women had faked orgasms while only around 25% of men share this experience. [1] [2]
Scientific point of view
Another survey run by Cooper in 2013 explored the motivation for faking an orgasm and found out four reasons [3]:
1. Altruistic Deceit: fakingorgasm out of concern for a partner's feelings.
2. Fear and Insecurity: fakingorgasm to avoid negative emotions associated with the sexual experience.
3 Elevated Arousal: a woman's attempt to increase her own arousal through fakingorgasm.
4 Sexual Adjournment: fakingorgasm to end sex
Mag. Wolfgang Kostenwein, manager of the sexual-pedagogical institute in Vienna and expert for the therapeutical scheme "Sexocorporel" suggests to "fake it, 'till you make it". Women are encouraged to fake an orgasm in a sensual and authentic way by usingan intensified loveplay with fitting hip movements, deep breaths, sensual sounds and, ideally, contractions of the pelvic floor. A desired side effect of this exercise is a "real" orgasm. [4]
